Summer is right around the corner and bright colors have already made their entrance this year! Spring fashion shows were filled with bold bright colors such as tangerine, turquoise and yellow. Fun fuchsias and powerful purples have also had an impact on the spring collections. With the weather warming up, we are going to see more and more bright colors this year. So put away your dark winter clothes and step into a spectacular summer wardrobe!

At the start of 2012, leading designers and fashion bloggers announced that tangerine tango was the color of the year! Tangerine is a spectacular color in more than one way. Not only is it bright and bold but it looks good with most hair colors and skin tones. It is also a great accent color. You can spice up a plain black outfit with tangerine lip stick or eye shadow. Or add a pop of color to a white sundress with tangerine accessories. There are so many shades of orange available this year that you can incorporate tangerine into almost any outfit.

Color blocking with bright colors was on almost every runway! This is not the year to be afraid of color. Mixing green, yellow, orange and red is a high fashion look that will have you feeling like a designers muse. Color blocking has been used on trousers, blouses and couture gowns. Have fun this summer in a color blocked cocktail dress as a wedding guest, for a dinner date, or even a night out with friends. And if a dress is too much, start with a pair of stiletto’s that have all the colors of summer. Join the trend for summer and step out in bright colors because Bright is Back!!

Outrageous Nails Are In

Nails, Nails, Nails!! There is something fun and freeing about getting your nails done. No matter what dress size you are, what age you are, or what your skin color is…nails are something everyone can experiment with. There is so much access to nail art that you can really let your personality shine through with your nails. It is an exciting way to change up your look every couple weeks without breaking the bank or altering your natural look completely. Now-a-day’s people are really getting outrageous with their nails and I am just loving it!

There are different types of nails. If you want to play with prints and colors without ruining your real nails, there are stick on kits or nail polish that will have heads turning. If you don’t mind the extra money or time, a professional nail artist will put your nails over the edge and have you feeling fabulous. Getting your nails done is also a great experience to do with your friends or family. You can catch up on your girl time and relax while someone makes your nails look beautiful. There are two types of “fake” nails you can get at a salon. Acrylic, which is a little more damaging to the nail and looks less natural but, will give you that full clean set look. There is also powder gel, which is less damaging and, in my opinion, a little more natural looking but they are usually more expensive. Whether you decide to go natural or opt for the fake nails, there are so many options that you can have fun with!

In the past, people would stick to the standard feminine colors such as nudes, reds or pinks. In today’s world, anything goes! You can really let your inner wild woman shine through without changing your appearance. You can do funky prints, glamorous rhinestones or just vibrant colors to change your nail look. Neon’s are making a comeback in all areas of fashion and your nails are a great place to start if you haven’t really tried the neon trend yet. No matter where fashion is heading go with a color, style or print that makes you happy! But remember, they are just nails and you can easily change them. So when it comes to your nails, try something new and don’t be afraid to be a little outrageous!

May is just around the corner and for most of the U.S. the warm weather is already here, and judging by how hot it has gotten in the past couple weeks things probably won’t be cooling off again until it’s time to shop for the new fall looks. But warm weather means more than just fun in the sun; it means it’s time to think about changing your skin care and makeup regimen for the warmer months to come.
The best place to start looking for inspiration for your new style is the spring runways, which have featured very feminine and demure designs this year and paired those designs skillfully with soft, natural looks. Spring and summer makeup this year is going to be very subdued, with plenty of earthy blushes and natural flesh tones of shell, taupe and caramel. These colors paired with nude and cream colored lips and a modern matte finish create a very natural look that is flattering on almost every skin type. Remember to complement your style with a colorful and feminine short dress.
If you are feeling particularly bold one warm sunny day there are plenty of more daring statements to be made as well. For example neons are back with bright orange and tangerine colors leading the way. This color is perfect on the lips if you have a darker complexion or can be used for truly dramatic effect around the eyes. But remember that you have to make a choice, go heavy on the neons in both places and you’re only a bad perm away from looking like you fell out of an 80’s movie!
As always good skincare is a must in summer, and don’t forget to protect yourself with a good SPF if you plan on being out in the sun for long periods of time. Whichever look you decide to go with remember to stay away from the heavier products when makeup shopping this spring, thicker products tend to have much more grease which will crease and melt in the heat, not to mention wreak havoc on your pores.

And always remember spring and summer are about youth and natural beauty, so let be sure to accent your best features and remember that sometimes in fashion less is more.
