Is It a Situation?
When you hear the Situation, what do you think of? Everybody who is anybody immediately goes to the MTV show, the Jersey Shore and their six-pack toting roomie Mike.
Now, when you hear Abercrombie & Fitch, where does your mind immediately go? A six-pack! Sorry A & F, but nobody thinks of your clothes first, the models are what come to mind along with their no-clothes, muscle-y attire.
So, why do the two brands- a term I am using very loosely- not go together?
Well, believe it or not, A & F is practically banning the Jersey Shore cast from sporting their clothing. Read for yourself; “We are deeply concerned that Mr. Sorrentino’s association with our brand could cause significant damage to our image. We understand that the show is for entertainment purposes, but believe this association is contrary to the aspirational nature of our brand, and may be distressing to many of our fans. We have therefore offered a substantial payment to Michael ‘The Situation’ Sorrentino and the producers of MTV’s The Jersey Shore to have the character wear an alternate brand. We have also extended this offer to other members of the cast, and are urgently waiting a response.”
So, Abercrombie fans out there…what do you think? Will you or have you stopped buying/wearing A&F gear because of this reality show fool?
Have girls stopped wearing leopard print dresses because of this show? I think not! Or has anybody stopped going tanning all together? No! (Maybe I could see somebody cut back on tanning because how orange some of the cast members are). However, like they say all publicity is good publicity. The Jersey Shore is not hurting anyone as far as A & F is making it seem.
