The Reason for Appropriate Prom Dresses

It’s prom day! You’re excited and you have the prettiest dress ever picked out. So you put it on, do your makeup, do your hair, and you head off to prom, ready to dance until you drop. However, you end up being sent away. You get angry, demand your money back, but then discover that—uh oh, you won’t be getting any money back because you made that mistake.

So, the question is—what is the reason for having an appropriate prom dress? First of all, you need to understand that short dresses, prom dresses, formal dresses, and cocktail dresses all come with their problems. A lot of schools let quite a bit slide. However, they also have to keep the student’s wellbeing in mind and their reputation. If you’re dressed a bit inappropriately and then decide to go walking around the prom area afterwards, well, you never know what kind of crowds that you might attract. It could also be dangerous—some dresses could be tripping hazards or they just are inappropriate.

If you want to make sure that your dress is appropriate, either get a copy of the dress code for your school or go to your class sponsors, who will have a better idea of what you should do. Make sure that you don’t get angry with your sponsors—they only know the rules. They didn’t make them.
