What to Do Before Returning a Prom Dress

White and Black or Pink and Black short prom dressSo you rented a pretty prom dress and you’re ready to take it back. However, you aren’t entirely sure about the protocol for returning prom dresses and you want to make sure that you do it right. The question is—how exactly do you go about returning prom dresses? What is the best way for you to return your formal dresses?

First of all, you need to make sure that you know what they want you to do with your dress. Are you required to have it cleaned before bringing it back or can you return it immediately after wearing it? Do you have to put it in a special box or something of that nature? When it comes to cocktail dresses, you want to be careful. They can be very expensive and you don’t want to end up buying one when you were able to simply rent it for a much better price.

Check for any stains, especially on short dresses where you may not notice them as readily. If there are any stains, try immediately to fix them and also to take the time to have them professionally cleaned if you cannot get them out. If there are any rips or tears, see if you can have them taken care of as well. You don’t want to end up buying a dress if you can fix it—but you may also want to mention the repairs to the shop just in case.
