Navy is the New Black

As the weather gets colder and winter approached, people generally tend to wear darker colors.  Black is the usual staple for a woman but even though it hides everything, it can be boring and looks too harsh on certain skin tones.  This season opt for a nice alternative, navy!  Navy is a little softer than black and looks nice on most skin tones and with most hair colors.  Navy is classy and romantic.  Depending on your event, you can pair navy with gold or silver accessories.  Silver will keep the look a little more youthful and gold will give a more mature regal look.  If you really want to step outside of the box, pair your navy dress or shirt with a red accessory.  Be careful when pairing navy with red so that you don’t look like the fourth of July.  When done right, navy and red can look stunning!  Many celebrities are catching on to this new trend.  Angelina Joli is known for wearing all black ensembles, but even she has embraced the “new black.”  After wearing two very serious all black outfits on the red carpet to promote her new movie In the Land of Blood and Honey, she stepped out in a stunning navy dress by Romona Keveza.  Fashion critics could not be happier to see that Angelina Joli wore navy!  She paired a simple silk chiffon gown with a nude peep-toe stiletto and diamond stud earrings.  Navy is still slimming but makes a more powerful statement with your fashion.  So put those black turtle necks aside and put on navy for your next event!
