Are You a Pippa?

Last spring Kate Middleton and Prince William wed in front of millions of people all over the world, but it was not the gorgeous bride that created an uproar in the fashion world, it was her sister Pippa. Pippa was unknown to most of the world until she was seen  trailing behind her sister at the royal wedding in an Alexander McQueen dress by SarahBurton. The dress was a simple ivory satin-based crepe chiffon, with a cowl-neck front and button-down back. No one expected the bride’s dress to be upstaged, but somehow Pippa managed to do so by catching the attention of millions.

So how did she do it? Pippa chose to wear a dress that fit her right and flattered her in all of the right places. The sleek silhouette of a simple mermaid style dress and detailed button back accentuated her slim figure and lengthened her body with a cowl neckline that drew attention to her bust and small waist.

Do you have a “Pippa Dress”? In order to steal the show you need to have a dress that fits you right. Following a few simple tips will help you to look your best.

  • If you are slim and tall, you should find a dress or use accessories, such as a belt, to add curves to your body. It can also help to have a dress that shows off your long legs or an open/detailed back to add to your slim figure.
  • If you are short, you can wear a dress with a slit or short hemline paired with stiletto heels to lengthen your legs and make you appear taller.
  • If you are curvy, select a dress to highlight your best features. If you have an hour glass shape, you will want to wear a form-fitting dress with detail on the neckline or bottom of the dress.
  • If you are pear-shaped, you will want to pick a dress flattering to your upper half of your body, such as detailed halters, sweetheart necklines, or even one-shouldered dresses.
  • If you are fuller in the middle, pick a dress that draws attention away from your mid-section. An A-line gown can help to make you look slimmer.
  • If you are athletic, pick a dress to highlight your feminine features. This can be a dress bringing attention to the neckline or one that makes your hips look the width of your shoulders giving you a curvy look.

Pippa wore the right dress to Kate’s wedding allowing her to become a fashion icon. The right dress can let you do the same!
